Our Christmas Surprise

It has been ages since I've updated my blog, but TBH, there hasn't been much sewing getting done! Life is so hectic that the days just whiz past and sewing productivity is naught.

But the other day the very amazing EMMA made my Christmas when a large box arrived on my doorstep filled to the brim with 4 of her beautiful hand made quilt creations.

Last night after dinner when all the children were washed and had clean hands we sat down. Paul and I chose Joseph's quilt first....

Joseph & Sun, Sand & Sea

and from there the girls chose their own and Elizabeth's too.

Elizabeth & Blueberries & Lime

Grace & Cabins in Queensland

Eva & Butterfly Carnival

From the bottom of my heart, dear Emma, thank you so very much. My children will cherish them dearly. This morning when Grace made her bed she lovingly laid her quilt out and Eva is currently fast asleep under hers. Merry Christmas to all.

Weekends gone in a whirrrr of colour

I didn't get nearly as much as I wanted to get done over the weekend, but with good cause, it was DH's birthday and, of course, Fathers Day yesterday.

BUT, I did manage to get 1 of the sewing jobs I wanted to do out of the way. I finished Grace's shirt, albeit at 4.30 yesterday. She proudly put it on and did a little dance for me.

I had planned on starting it on Friday night. I had bought DH a ticket to the Cowboys. The minute he left the house, 'arsenic hour' started and when he got home at 10pm I was still feeding and settling babies.

Saturday was DH's birthday and I managed to get the pattern cut out in the morning. When Eva went down for a sleep, Grace and I went out to do some girly shopping and when we got home, it was time to start the feast I had planned for dinner.

I cooked a Tom Yum, my first effort and pretty good if I say so myself, a Yellow Chicken Curry and a yummy chocolate cake for birthday cake.

Checked in for my weekly Dr Who and then checked out for the evening. Joseph and Elizabeth slept till 5am (bliss) but woke with a hungry scream on Father's Day!

Father's Day saw the exchange of gifts from the girls, both handmade and shop bought and I'm sure DH felt very spesh! He got to hang out in the shed (his domain) drinking beer and listening to the footy with not much expected of him.

I sewed the day away with constant interruptions and started to get really annoyed towards the end. My bobbin thread kept leaving big clumps underneath and looked really messy, but I finished in the end and am quite happy with the end result.

The girls need about 1/2 dozen long shirts each for summer so best get cracking with another next weekend.

Time to regroup & Fluffy Mail

Lately I've been feeling very scattered, lots I want to do, but feel I'm doing none of them to completion. I have several projects on the go, but none completed. I think the only thing I've finished recently was a shirt for Eva, which I need to make a few more of for summer for both her and Grace.

I have been so busy studying lately that nothing else is possible and I wasn't even enjoying my study like I normally do, so I decided, this semester is for me and my kids and withdrew from my subject.

My list includes:
  • Minkee Taggie blankets one for each of my babes and possibly look at selling them on a WAHM online store
  • Dye boggans of wool so I can send some to my Nan as she has offered to help me stock my online store (she can knit 2 to my 1) and also Joe and Elizabeth desperately need new covers...
  • I want to sew more wraps so I can sell to other babywearing Mumma's out there
All of this to fund my MCN addiction

So today I started small, I finished a wool cover I've had cut out for AGES, so now I have another cover for nights.

I've currently got some Bamboo Fleece in the dryer for tomorrow.

So project for tonight as DH is going to the Cowboys game:

#1 - Make Grace a shirt

and tomorrow

#2 - Pin and prep nappies

oh, I also got 4 Wonderwraps delivered today from Darlings Downunder today also expecting lots more things shortly, I've been funding my purchases by selling Wraps for babywearing.

Babysteps....
