First day of school
Well there it is, my first 'baby' off to school. A bit of an emotional day, but overall Grace is so very ready to be off into the big wild world. Found myself being very reflective over the day and remembering snippets from her birth. It certainly doesn't seem like 5 years since she was born, but indeed it is and its been a wonderous journey. Thank you Grace Regina for choosing me to be your guiding light.

How things have changed....
Life has been so busy, kids, study, husband, house, work - christmas came and went and in a few days my eldest daughter, Grace, will start school for the first time.
In amongst this time, one of my lifelong amibitons began to take form and on 15th Jan I was accepted by the University of South Australia to study in their Bachelor of Midwifery program. I worked so hard to achieve this and I am elated that I am finally on the path toward my dream.

My beautiful babies
The older two girls were at kindy today, so I demolished the lounge room and my bedroom hunting for the best light for this weeks challenge. I went to Spotlight and bought some black crushed velvet and some white and gold card to make reflectors.
I tried photographing Elizabeth first, but she wasn't playing the game and I was only able to come up with a couple of shots I liked. I find that the majority of my time is taken up working out the right ISO/Aperature/Shutter Speed combo and it's really hard to get the kids to sit still for that amount of time while I fiddle.

Overall I'm really thrilled as to how my skills are coming along. I'm really looking forward to Paul coming home so I can enrol in a course and join the local photography group. I'm having so much fun with it right now.

Easter 2008
I got a nice sleep in this morning. My Mum told the kids if they went outside too early to look for eggs that Easter Bunny might not have been yet and then they'd scare him away and wouldn't come back!
After the Easter hunt, I cleaned the girls up, did their hair, put on their angel wings and a clean chesty and tried to get them to pose for me.
Some of my fave's from the shoot.....

And my entry for the EB Beginners Flickr photo mini challenge Easter 2008

Off to the Oakbank races tomorrow, hope to catch some fun action there.

New Camera, Newfound Inspiration
My new camera has arrived and it is like having a new baby in the house, minus the constant need for attention. I jumped straight in and have been shooting in manual and getting to know how my baby likes to be handled and so far I'm really pleased with the results.

Still so far to go and so much to learn, but that's what life is all about, what fun would it be if we knew everything there was to know.
I also find myself watching my children play more. I want to capture 'THAT' shot and rather than do something else, I watch them.

My creative side - or lack thereof
I picked up an SLR for the first time in 15 years earlier in Feb. There was an old roll of B&W in it which I remember buying when I was pregnant with Eva in 2005, so know there was some old shots on it, I finished the roll and decided to see if I had anything else creative flowing through me. The results are quite good, for a first go, and really gave me the urge to get back into photography.

I have my NEW Nikon D60 and 50mm f1.8D lens arriving Wednesday - so watch this space....

Our Christmas Surprise
It has been ages since I've updated my blog, but TBH, there hasn't been much sewing getting done! Life is so hectic that the days just whiz past and sewing productivity is naught.
But the other day the very amazing EMMA made my Christmas when a large box arrived on my doorstep filled to the brim with 4 of her beautiful hand made quilt creations.
Last night after dinner when all the children were washed and had clean hands we sat down. Paul and I chose Joseph's quilt first....

and from there the girls chose their own and Elizabeth's too.
Elizabeth & Blueberries & Lime
Grace & Cabins in Queensland
Eva & Butterfly Carnival
From the bottom of my heart, dear Emma, thank you so very much. My children will cherish them dearly. This morning when Grace made her bed she lovingly laid her quilt out and Eva is currently fast asleep under hers. Merry Christmas to all.
